Yesterday was Earth Day, a worldwide celebration of our Mother Earth and the life she supports. Like other cities, Rochester, MN celebrates all week with EarthFest, hosting events to help raise awareness and host conversations about what we can do to minimize destructive forces and introduce thriving practices.
Matt and I are excited to participate this year in two ways:
- This Friday: we are hosting an open house for our energy efficient home this from 2pm-6pm.
- This Saturday: you can find us at at booth 34 at the Expo from 10am-4pm.
We’re looking forward to talking with people about their own aspirations of energy efficient living, offering our experience and knowledge about what it takes to achieve it:
In our journey, we consulted case studies, which were essential in our decision-making. XRG Concepts (who conducted our HERS rating) helped us make our own case study, illustrating the kinds of design and construction choices that factored into the extreme HERS rating we achieved:
Please join us! Let’s celebrate Earth Day and EarthFest together by talking about your own energy efficiency aspirations: what questions you can ask your builder, what roadblocks you might encounter and how to work around them, and how energy efficiency can also be beautiful!
